Ultra Racing for Perodua Myvi is available !

2018 Perodua Myvi launched in Malaysia

There’s a total of 3 generations available for Perodua Myvi at present. The Perodua Myvi first generation M300 arrived on the scene in 2005 while the second generation M600 arrived on the scene in 2011.

The all-new 2018 Perodua Myvi M800 has been officially launched in Malaysia, while the previous two Myvis were largely based on the Daihatsu Boon (or Sirion outside of Japan), the latest model has an upper body and interior that was fully designed by Perodua.

The previous Myvi’s platform has been worked on to the extent that it’s 70% new for this application – the M800’s longer wheelbase and completely altered dimensions are proof and also the enhancements
listed as follows:
Reinforcements chassis (2.5 times more high-tensile steel than before)
An acoustic windshield reduces NVH levels
Suspension enhancements include thicker front and rear stabilizer bars (without OEM rear stabilizer bar in previous generation – M300 & M600), a new lightweight front lower arm, stiffer rear beam structure with new curved design and a redesigned rear cross member.

OEM Rear Anti Roll Bar

Five-star ASEAN NCAP crash test rating

The bars that are available for Myvi M300, M600 & M800 are Front Strut Bar, Rear Anti Roll Bar (2 sizes available for M300 & M600), Front Lower Bar, Rear Lower Bar, Rear Torsion, Room Bar; due to the market demand, M300 and M600 additional Side Lower Bar, Fender Bar, Rear Strut Bar and Rear Upper Bar too. Also, Ultra Racing is available to replace the Front Anti Roll bar for the model of M300 1.0L spec which doesn’t come with OEM setup. Also, Ultra Racing has developed the Mid Lower Bar for Perodua Myvi M800.

The functionality of each of the bars after installed on your Perodua Myvi are explained below.

STAGE 1 ( Front Strut Bar  & Rear Anti Roll Bar )

Stage 1 which includes Front Strut Bar and Rear Anti Roll Bar, is the primary set to enhance the performance of your car.
All Perodua Myvi doesn’t come with the OEM front strut bar from the car manufacturer. For the Perodua Myvi, Ultra Racing has developed a 2 points front strut bar, located at the top of the absorber (left and right) in order not to affect the normal procedure of service and maintenance.

The car chassis will affect the left and right strut tower and suppress changes in body distortion that occur during running. Furthermore, continuous stress will cause distortion little by little. As known by majority, tire friction, suspension forces, defects from rain water and old car with age will affect a car’s life span. Aftermarket suspension and modifications will also increase the burden of the car chassis.

One of the methods to deal with such a situation is to install a front strut bar/front tower bar, by connecting the left and right strut towers to increase rigidity. Apart from being easy to install, it is the most effective reinforcement part that demonstrates high performance.

The OEM rear suspension setups of Perodua Myvi M300, M600 & M800 come with torsion beam system. The Perodua Myvi M300 & M600 do not provide the OEM rear anti roll bar but M800 is provided.
Perodua Myvi M300 is using the chassis platform with Daihatsu Sirion, the majority parts for both models are able to share with each other including the rear torsion beam suspension. Let us compare with both models, The Toyota Sirion comes with OEM rear anti roll bar while Perodua Myvi M300 does not include the anti roll bar from the carmaker.

Thus, Ultra Racing decided to develop a solid 16mm & 18mm OD (outside diameter) rear anti roll bar for M300 & M600. For a keen driver, you may choose the rear anti roll bar in 16mm setup for your daily driving. If you’re a driver who enjoys the fun when cornering, a 18mm setup of rear anti roll bar is the choice you need the most. We did develop a solid 19mm OD rear anti roll bar for M800 as well, the purpose of upgrading the OEM rear anti roll bar as it significantly improves the handling performance and maintain the comfortability of the car.

A normal road is not flat as a race track, it is often uneven and bumpy. When the left and right suspension alignment are different such as during cornering, the stabilizer twists the bar and suppresses the roll by its restoring force. This will result in an understeer or oversteer and also there’s a risk to lose control if over body roll.

The reason why automakers install stabilizers with higher spring constants than usual on genuine sports type and high-grade cars is because they intend to suppress rolls and improve ride quality.  We’ve found out that there are 2 scenarios shown in the market, either the higher specification of car comes with OEM rear anti roll bar or the thickness of OEM rear anti roll bar will be depending on the specifications.

By installing the suitable size of anti roll bar, it is possible to suppress the roll of the vehicle’s body without stiffening the suspension and improving cornering and traction. In addition, since the left and right wobbling is suppressed and the posture is stable, there is no discomfort and the risk of motion sickness is reduced.

STAGE 2 ( Lower Arm Bar )

Stage 2, comprising Front Lower Bar, Rear Lower Bar, Rear Torsion, Side Lower Bar for M300, M600 & M800 and an addition of Mid Lower Bar for M800 are able to reduce the car chassis flex and strengthen the main chassis platform. It is highly recommended for heavy load vehicles such as SUV or MPV as it helps to enhance the stiffness and handling during higher speed  and cornering.
